My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Oh my holy swoon. Damn if I’m not smitten by another McKinney brother. Claudia Connor had me from the word go with this beautiful story about the youngest McKinney sibling, Jake (JT).
I was honestly captivated from the very beginning. I love when heroes make connections with kids and that leads to a connection with the heroine.
Paige and Casey Roberts don’t have it easy. Paige is spreading herself thin with jobs, school and raising a feisty little girl. Casey is dreading her impending school year with the start of Kindergarten. She’s not like the other kids and is afraid she won’t make friends until she meets her new best friend, JT.
When JT visits the diner Paige works at it’s obvious that Casey has a need and that because of her and Paige’s current situation it’s a need that won’t get met anytime soon. He offers his professional assistance and Paige accepts.
I love that JT & Casey connect first. These two have a little something in common and JT genuinely wants to make Casey’s life a little easier. He wants her to have the confidence a child needs in order to thrive and hopes it will serve her well in making friends that she fears she won’t find.
As I mentioned JT & Casey’s connection is what inevitably leads to JT & Paige. I can’t say enough about the pace and the storyline arc. It was perfect. JT’s growth and his acceptance of his past lead to beautiful things with Paige and her daughter as well as granting us with a visit from those other brothers we already adore. If you haven’t met this family, I strongly suggest you do. And if you have I can guarantee you will not be disappointed in the continuation of this series.
