After an eventful Christmas break, Cadence Lewis is shaken to the core.  The life she lived in New York no longer makes sense. Faced with so many questions she runs to the only person who has ever listened to her. Now she has to decide how to say goodbye to the past, discover herself, and embrace a future in a life she never wanted.  Will Cadence be able to overcome the path she’s been given or will she take the easy way out?
Mason jars, with lights inside each of them, are hung from a line between the trees. They twinkle in the night sky as the air moves them gracefully, but what I notice most is the enormous gold star hanging in the center with the word “Prom?” written on it.  When I look down there is a blanket spread out on the ground with a basket sitting next to it. When I look back up at Barrick, he’s holding a small box. He opens it and displays a gold ring with a single cut out star in the middle.
“Barrick.  It’s beautiful,” I say.
“Cadence as I look into the night sky, there’s not a star that shines as bright as you.  Can I be your date to Prom?” he questions and I suddenly realize the amazement of this moment.  A boy, who has no desire to go back to high school, is willing to go to Prom with me.
“I wouldn’t want to go with anyone else, Mr. Carpenter,” I say as he takes my hand and slides the small star ring on my right index finger.
“Cadence, each time you look at this ring, know that your wishes can come true as long as you lead the way,” he says.
“Right now, I only want to be in this moment with you,” I say as he pulls me in and our lips crash together.  I can’t get close enough to him and I can’t express my thoughts so we let our lips tell each other how we’re feeling.  Suddenly, I hear a squeal and jump away from Barrick. I turn and see Jade jumping up and down next to Aaron.
“Oh my gosh y’all, that was the sweetest moment ever!”

Cadence Lewis has been dancing since she could walk. Living in New York with her parents she has the chance to go to the best dance school in the country, but when her father does the unthinkable she’s forced to leave her dreams behind and move to a small southern town with her mom. Cadence is having a hard time adjusting to her new life when she meets Jade Carpenter. Jade starts to show Cadence that small-town life isn’t so bad, but when Cadence has a chance to go back to New York she is on the next flight and will do anything to get her old life back.
Casey Peeler grew up in North Carolina and still lives there with her husband and daughter.
Growing up Casey wasn't an avid reader or writer, but after reading Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neal Hurston during her senior year of high school, and multiple Nicholas Sparks' novels, she found a hidden love and appreciation for reading.  That love ignited the passion for writing several years later, and her writing style combines real life scenarios with morals and values teenagers need in their daily lives.
When Casey isn't writing, you can find her near a body of water listening to country music with a cold beverage and a great book.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an excellent book, we pick up right where we left off in book one (so don’t start this one until you’ve read Part 1.)

Cadence returns to North Carolina with a new outlook on life, she’s recognized that her friends from back home are stuck-up and materialistic something that she hopes to never be again. On top of dealing with that her dad announced that he was having a baby which breaks Cadence’s heart since he didn’t want to spend time with her. Her plan all along was to finish school in North Carolina and then head back to New York to peruse her dancing career. Now, everything has changed and Cadence is reevaluating what she wants with her future. The only thing she knows for sure is that she wants Barrick in her life. Barrick is who Cadence calls to get her from the airport and he proves his support and love for Cadence by being by her side while she deals with her family and friend drama – bonding them. The two become inseparable and Cadence really begins to appreciate life on the farm.

This is such a sweet romance, I was sucked in from the first page of part 1 and had been anxiously awaiting part 2 only to devour it! This is one that will send you on an emotional roller coaster of tears and laughter. The author did a phenomenal job and I look forward to reading more from Casey Peeler.
