There are some debts you canā€™t repay.

Josh Walker is loyal, reckless, and every girlā€™s dream. But he only has eyes for December Howard, the girl he's craved since his high school hockey days. Together they have survived grief, the military, distance, and time as theyā€™ve fought for stolen weekends between his post at Ft. Rucker and her college at Vanderbilt. Now that Josh is a medevac pilot and Ember is headed toward graduation, theyā€™re moving onā€”and inā€”together.

Ember never wanted the Army life, but loving Josh means accepting whatever the army dictatesā€”even when that means saying goodbye as Josh heads to Afghanistan, a country that nearly killed him once before and that took her father. But filling their last days together with love, passion, and plans for their future doesnā€™t temper Emberā€™s fear, and if thereā€™s one thing sheā€™s learned from her fatherā€™s death, itā€™s that there are some obstacles even love canā€™t conquer.

Flight school is over.
This is war.

Excerpt
I pulled her onto my lap, gently squeezing the sweet curves of her hips.
ā€œBehave,ā€ she whispered into my ear, but ran her tongue along the edge.
My fingers flexed, teasing under the edges of the black skirt that had slid higher on her thighs as she sat. I couldnā€™t help itā€”her skin was a magnet for my hands. ā€œYou like it better when I donā€™t,ā€ I answered.
She locked those blue eyes on mine, and for that second, I wanted everyone to go the fuck away so I could get my remarkable girlfriend out of her clothes. Not a girlfriend for long. Not if I found the perfect moment for that little velvet box hidden upstairs.
Mrs. Walker. December-fucking-Walker. Sounded perfect to me.
ā€œEarth to Josh and Ember,ā€ Jagger called, waving his hand like heā€™d been at it a while.
ā€œYeah, yeah, a toast,ā€ Ember said, wiggling against my now-hard lap. I locked her down with my hands, and she threw me a smug grin, well aware of what sheā€™d done.
Jagger raised his beer. ā€œTo friends. Hell, that doesnā€™t even cut it. You guys, all of you...I wouldnā€™t be hereā€ā€”he looked over to Paisleyā€”ā€œor even the man I am, without you. So more than friends...to family.ā€
We glanced around the fire at the family weā€™d made, and I felt itā€”one of those moments you canā€™t forget, the kind that stay with you when itā€™s long past, so you try to memorize everything. It was a deep peace, a contentment laced with the silent knowledge that we wouldnā€™t be together again for far too long.ā€Øā€œTo family,ā€ we all said in scattered rhythm, and I kissed the underside of Emberā€™s jaw.

About the Author

rebecca yarros.jpg

Rebecca Yarros is a hopeless romantic and lover of all things chocolate, coffee, and Paleo. In addition to being a mom, military wife, and blogger, she can never choose between Young Adult and New Adult fiction, so she writes both. She's a graduate of Troy University, where she studied European history and English, but still holds out hope for an acceptance letter to Hogwarts. Her blog, The Only Girl Among Boys, has been voted the Top Military Mom Blog the last two years, and celebrates the complex issues surrounding the military life she adores.
When she's not writing, she's tying on hockey skates for her kids, or sneaking in some guitar time. She is madly in love with her army-aviator husband of eleven years. They finally can call Colorado home along with their gaggle of rambunctious kiddos and snoring English Bulldog.

UNITED INDIE BOOK BLOG REVIEW

Hallowed Ground (Flight & Glory, #4)Hallowed Ground by Rebecca Yarros
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the riveting conclusion to the Flight & Glory series and Rebecca Yarros doesn't make it easy on us. There are so many emotions that come to the surface, especially with this being the last book in the series. The intensity of this story made it feel so real. There are parts of the book that I read while literally sitting on the edge of my seat. I grieved with these characters and I applauded their honor and their bravery. I celebrated with these characters and captured a glimpse into their future and I don't regret a minute I spent with them. If you are already a fan of these characters you will enjoy seeing some familiar faces.
I always loved Josh and Ember's story but I forgot how much until I was with them again. These two together are an amazing couple. They've worked so hard to get where they are, both personally and professionally, and now it's time for them to own up to their "us against the world" mentality. I just felt this book brought Ember and Josh full circle.
If you enjoy military heroes I urge you to read this series. You will be hard pressed to find many that do it better than this author. I will certainly miss these characters but I am certainly looking forward to what will be next!

They say I have the voice of an angel. I almost gave all that up, thanks to a traumatic experience at the start of my career. Instead of letting it define me, I chose to rise above. While the attraction is there for me as well, I donā€™t need any distractions right now. Austin Jones Focused. Driven. Death of the Spirit (Crossing Death #2) by Rick Chiantaretto Blog Tour

Death of the Spirit *Crossing Death #2* Genre~Dark Fantasy/Occult I have no idea who I am anymore. In Los Angeles, I would have given anything to go home to Orenda, my world where magic was alive and nature spoke to me. Now that I'm back I feel out of place, burdened with responsibility. The human part of me misses the simplicity of Earth, the mage part begs for connection with magic, and the demon part? I don't want to admit that exists. As the darkness inside me grows, Iā€™ll learn to sacrifice for the greater good, as my people have always done. In order to save my family (both mage and human alike), I must face my nightmare, embrace the demon, and descend into the shadowy world of my enemyā€”the Hell of the Damned. Once there, I will have nothing left to fear but myself: Edmund Gavel, human, mage, demon... maybe monster.
