In Little White Lies, Book # 1 of the Girlfriends Series –Eighth grader Rachel Scott finally has the perfect boyfriend. He’s good looking, athletic and wealthy. The only problem is he doesn’t actually exist. Rachel’s escape into her fantasy world worries her parents and they insist she meet with the school counsellor. Frustrated with her life and without her best friend’s approval, Rachel heads down a dangerous path, looking for love in all the wrong places.
Rachel is trying to adapt to life with a new step mom, step brother, and a new baby brother. She is constantly making up lies and stories to make her life seem more interesting than it really is, but happens when they all add up she could possibly be in trouble will she be able to tell the truth.
When I started this book I had no idea the turns that is would take. I can relate to Rachel because when I was that age i constantly made up stories and things just to entertain myself. This is a book that I believe all teenagers should read. it touches on a very real subject. Things that happen to Rachel happen all the time in real life and I think teens need to be aware and take it seriously. overall I thought it was a great book. For me personally I could have used a little more character depth so that I could connect better. I also felt like the book was rushed a little bit. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read but especially to parents and teens!

In Little White Pills, Book #2 of The Girlfriends Series -Tenth grader Steph Baxter has it all, perfect looks, perfect grades and a perfect life. She’s a model high-school student and a member of the cheerleading squad. But in her quest for excellence, she makes dangerous choices. Soon her simple solution becomes a complex problem. Follow Steph and her best friend Rachel as they cope with Steph’s unexpected journey. Can Steph find support before it’s too late?
This book is all about Steph who is Rachel's best friend. She is going through a rough patch with her parents and life in general. Her parents have been fighting and decide to split up. She feels the pressure to be perfect all the time. While on her journey she discovers some ways to cope that are not very healthy. What happens when it takes over her life?
Once again Jodie Esch takes real life teen issues and brings attentions to them. She did an amazing job hitting the points that teens never think about and giving enough details that would make the reader stop and say wow I never thought of that, or in the case of someone going through the same thing they could say that is exactly how they feel. Steph is just as real as Rachel was in book one. This series is a must read for teens and parents!
In Little White Magic, Book # 3 of the Girlfriends Series - Rachel and her best friend Steph are spending the summer as junior counselors working at a camp in Vermont. But Rachel’s on a mission.
What’s a girl supposed to do when she needs a new boyfriend? Enlist the help of a tarot reader, trust the cards and embrace the journey. Spiral into an adventure filled with startling revelations, where nothing is as it appears – and a mysterious, scarred young man’s talents seem almost magical.
Steph and Rachel go to summer camp! Once again the friendship between the two is tested by lies, deception, and boys. This book is has more of a mystery feel than the other books in this series so far. It was quite different than the first two books. While it still deals with some real life issues. This is more of a mystery book. I was sucked into this one more. I fell in love with a new character Dylan. This will keep you guessing trying to figure out who is causing all the problem and if Steph and Rachel's friendship can survive.
In Little White Castles, Book # 4 of the Girlfriends Series – All Rachel wants is to unravel the mystery of her missing mother. Why did she disappear over a decade ago without saying goodbye? With the support of her friends, Steph and Dylan, and the guidance of her Tarot cards she must decide if the explanation lies in a faraway town. A family emergency and her mother’s odd behavior threaten to disrupt her quest. But the Tarot and a new friend with psychic powers gives her courage to find the answers that really matter. Can the truth transcend Rachel’s fantasies?
This book sends Steph and Rachel on a journey to find more information on Rachel's past. This book went back to the original two where there are real life situations and things teens go through everyday. Rachel goes on a journey to find her mom with Steph and Dylan by her side. This book had everything I have come to love in these books however it almost felt incomplete for me it almost felt like a prologue to the next book.
Overall
I loved this series overall and I would highly recommend to teens and parents. IT would be a great way to open communications between the two. I loved the real life situations that the characters went through. The whole series is a complete eye opener for parents. For teens it can show them how to deal with these situations.
