  “You three torture and kill for the money, but me? I’m a cold-blooded murderer, and you don’t even know why.” “No,” he murmurs. “I can wait until you’re ready to tell me why. But it won’t keep me away from you.” My teeth grind together, trying to fight off the shivers coursing through my body. I point my knife at him. “WHY? Why would you want me?” “Why do I want you?” he asks. “That’s the same as asking me why I wouldn’t want to breathe fucking air.” It’s as if he just sucked the oxygen straight from my lungs and into his mouth. Fuck. I push the knife underneath his chin. “You can stay away from me as much as I can stay away from you,” he mutters as the blade inches closer and closer. “Even if you kill me, it’s already too late. Our violent hearts have already been chained to each other.” He grips my wrist and pushes the knife even farther in until a droplet of blood spills. “I will always be with you, even after death, because no fucking plane of existence could ever free me of the hold you have over me.” Fuck. My hand quakes. I try. I try so hard to push that knife into his body, but no matter how badly I want this to end, I cannot. I cannot fucking kill this son of a bitch because I want him. I want him so badly I can’t fucking breathe … because he’s stolen my breath from me. And I throw the knife aside and slam my lips onto his, kissing him with every inch of that fucked-up soul tethered to his.
