This was a good start to a new Mafia series with a twist on the genre. Amelia left her Mafia family behind and reinvented herself. Now a cop she unexpectedly gets a new partner Luc who shakes her life up. This is almost like two stories in one, the real reason Luc is here and Amelia's work in the police. The chemistry between them is palpable. There is drama and danger, lies and secrets. It is good to read a story where the woman is shown as strong and capable. However secrets never stay hidden for long and with danger around every corner can they be together.

For me this one didn't pack the same punch that the first book did. There seemed to be alot of unnecessary dialogue going over the same ground several times. The author is slowly putting the pieces in place for the reader. There is still the drama and suspense you expect in a Mafia book. I wasn't a fan of Luc so readily showing his emotions where Amelia was concerned it takes away part of his mystique as the ruthless Don in training. As more secrets are revealed how far will Amelie be pulled back into the Family.

The conclusion to Luc and Amelia's story. Unfortunately for me after starting out strongly in book one the subsequent books didn't live up to the promise. We get all those loose ends tied and our questions answered. I just didn't feel the tension and drama as much as I wanted.
