Title: Deserving You: Emmett & Deja
Series: A McCord Family Series #3
Author: Amanda Siegrist
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 20, 2017
Deja Wilson was given a second chance. Sheā€™ll always be grateful to Sophie for her kindness. Now, theyā€™re best friends. The McCords, including Emmett, only like her for Sophieā€™s sake. It doesnā€™t stop her from wishing things were different, that she could have a good man like Emmett. When her brother is released from prison and arrested again the same day, she knows Emmett will never want a woman like her. Especially when he learns the truth about why her brother was sent to prison. It doesnā€™t matter anyway. She doesnā€™t deserve him. Emmett McCord has wanted Deja since the moment he met her, despite how she came into their lives. It didnā€™t take long for him, and the family, to forgive her and see just what kind of woman she is. Strong. Determined. Remorseful. Faithful to a fault. He wants to declare his feelings, but he knows sheā€™ll resist him. He canā€™t risk losing her friendship. When her brother walks back into her life, causing her pain, heā€™s done keeping his feelings to himself. He wants her, and sheā€™ll just have to get used to it.
ā€œI donā€™t date. I just screw ā€˜em and leave ā€˜em,ā€ Deja said with a nasty smirk.

Moving closer, his lips brushed her ear as he whispered, ā€œYouā€™re lying.ā€ He rubbed his thumbs across her hands some more as she trembled in his arms. ā€œTalk to me, Deja. Really talk. Just tell me what happened today.ā€

He kissed her neck below her ear and pulled away. Her eyes would tell him everything he needed to know. And they did. The desire reflected in the depths of her eyes, as did the awe. He had the distinct feeling she never felt true passion before. Heā€™d be more than happy to show herā€”after she told him what happened.

Just as swiftly, the desire disappeared. ā€œDonā€™t, Emmett. Just donā€™t.ā€ Her features turned hard as she stared him down with the evil eye he knew so well.

Deflection. Thatā€™s what that look was. He had learned the ins and outs of her so well. The last nine months had given him plenty of time to learn her quirks. She was truly a soft-hearted person inside. Her hard persona was an act. So much anguish she held inside.

ā€œDonā€™t what, Deja? Donā€™t try to be a friend? Donā€™t hold you like you matter to me? Donā€™t let you see how much I care about you? Donā€™t make you talk? I donā€™t listen very well sometimes. Get used to it.ā€

ā€œExcuse me?ā€ One brow rose as she pursed her lips.

He leaned closer, brushing his lips against hers. She trembled at the touch. He didnā€™t mind giving her little tastes of how good it could be if they were together. Sheā€™d give in eventually. Sheā€™d talk and then he would show her how much he cared about her.

ā€œI said get used to it.ā€ His lips made one more light sweep across her delectable mouth. ā€œI can see youā€™re hurting. Something bad happened todayā€”besides the car accidentā€”and I want to help. Iā€™ll show you real desire as soon as you talk to me. Iā€™ve wanted you for a long time. Itā€™s nice to know you want me, too. So, get used to it. Get used to me. Iā€™m not going anywhere.ā€

ā€œI donā€™t want you. I just want sex,ā€ she scoffed, as if she were trying to make it sound believable. He knew better.

ā€œYouā€™re so cute when you try to lie.ā€

ā€œIā€™m not lying.ā€

ā€œDid I ever tell you that you have such gorgeous eyes? They sparkle like the deep blue ocean.ā€ He smiled. ā€œWhen you lie, they flash a shade of purple. Itā€™s the strangest thing Iā€™ve ever seen. Itā€™s so damn beautiful.ā€

ā€œLet me go, Emmett.ā€

He didnā€™t release his hold. If anything, he held her hands tighter. ā€œDid I ever tell you that I love how you say my name? The nickname you gave me just doesnā€™t have the same ring to it.ā€

ā€œStop it.ā€

ā€œDid I ever tell you that you look so adorable when youā€™re trying to look hard and tough? But you know what? Youā€™re a softie. So sweet and delicate.ā€

ā€œKnock it off.ā€

ā€œDid I ever tell youā€”ā€

ā€œShut up, Emmett!ā€

ā€œDid I ever tell youā€”ā€

She let out a mangled cry that cut his words right off. Burying her head into his chest, her tears soaked right through him. They were fast and rough. So much pain it broke his heart.

He let go of her hands and wrapped her as tightly as he possibly could. ā€œYou donā€™t have to do things alone anymore, Deja.ā€

I love anything that has to do with romance. As long as thereā€™s a happy ending, Iā€™m a happy camper. I love baseball (Go Twins!) and creating awesome crafts. I graduated with a Bachelorā€™s Degree in Criminal Justice, working in that field for several years before I became a stay-at-home mom. When Iā€™m not hanging out with my wonderful family, Iā€™m writing a sweet contemporary romance or a romantic suspense that keeps you guessing until the end. Death of the Spirit (Crossing Death #2) by Rick Chiantaretto Blog Tour

Death of the Spirit *Crossing Death #2* Genre~Dark Fantasy/Occult I have no idea who I am anymore. In Los Angeles, I would have given anything to go home to Orenda, my world where magic was alive and nature spoke to me. Now that I'm back I feel out of place, burdened with responsibility. The human part of me misses the simplicity of Earth, the mage part begs for connection with magic, and the demon part? I don't want to admit that exists. As the darkness inside me grows, Iā€™ll learn to sacrifice for the greater good, as my people have always done. In order to save my family (both mage and human alike), I must face my nightmare, embrace the demon, and descend into the shadowy world of my enemyā€”the Hell of the Damned. Once there, I will have nothing left to fear but myself: Edmund Gavel, human, mage, demon... maybe monster.
