People say not to believe the things you read in magazines, but you know what? Most things youā€™ve heard about me are probably true.

I totally banged the reporter in the locker room after the championship game last year.

Those pictures in Expose from last summer? Those were not modified.

Iā€™m also not really six-foot tall. (But letā€™s keep that between us.)

Now, I know youā€™re wondering about that last Expose headlineā€”the one about me and my teammate (and ex-best friend) Finn Millerā€™s sister, Layla James. That one is a little more complicated.

Hereā€™s the thing: Iā€™ve played football my whole life. If thereā€™s one thing I know, itā€™s how to adjust when the game changes. And if thereā€™s one thing I always do, itā€™s find a way to win.

Granted, the stakes are higher. The playbook has changed. Thereā€™s more on the line than (another) MVP title. But guess what hasnā€™t changed? Me. Iā€™m still Branch ā€œLuckyā€ Best and Iā€™m not about to fumble this one.

Grab a seat and a subscription to Expose. Iā€™m about to make some headlines. (Again.)

A sexy, swoon-filled standalone novel.

Excerpt

ā€œOne question,ā€ Poppy interjects, looking at Branch. ā€œWhat position are you?ā€
ā€œI typically like the bottom so I can watchā€”oomph,ā€ he says, getting another elbow from Finn. ā€œWide receiver. Why?ā€
Looking at Poppy, I canā€™t help but laugh as her eyes light up.
ā€œYou got a problem with wide receivers?ā€ Branch asks.
ā€œYou do,ā€ Finn interjects, giving me a narrowed glare. ā€œThey arenā€™t any better than quarterbacks.ā€
Branch looks from me, to Finn, and back to me. ā€œWhy do we not like quarterbacks?ā€
ā€œMy sister was dating Callum Worthington.ā€
ā€œNo shit?ā€ His face puckers like he just bit into a lemon. ā€œHow in the hell did that cocksucker end up with you?ā€
ā€œHe didnā€™t. Weā€™re not together anymore.ā€
Branchā€™s eyes heat, the look causing my pulse to quicken. ā€œIā€™m not a bit sorry to hear that.ā€
ā€œYou better forget you heard any of that,ā€ Finn warns. ā€œThis is my sister, Branch. Not a cheerleader or reporter or some chick from a dating app. Got it?ā€
ā€œFinn, relax,ā€ I say, shoving a swallow past the lump in my throat. ā€œI appreciate the big brother spiel, but I can handle myself.ā€
ā€œI know you can,ā€ he says, pulling his gaze away from Branch. ā€œBut you canā€™t handle him.ā€

Death of the Spirit (Crossing Death #2) by Rick Chiantaretto Blog Tour

Death of the Spirit *Crossing Death #2* Genre~Dark Fantasy/Occult I have no idea who I am anymore. In Los Angeles, I would have given anything to go home to Orenda, my world where magic was alive and nature spoke to me. Now that I'm back I feel out of place, burdened with responsibility. The human part of me misses the simplicity of Earth, the mage part begs for connection with magic, and the demon part? I don't want to admit that exists. As the darkness inside me grows, Iā€™ll learn to sacrifice for the greater good, as my people have always done. In order to save my family (both mage and human alike), I must face my nightmare, embrace the demon, and descend into the shadowy world of my enemyā€”the Hell of the Damned. Once there, I will have nothing left to fear but myself: Edmund Gavel, human, mage, demon... maybe monster.
