Beautiful Sacrifices is Avery's story, you don't need to read book one in the series although you will get a more background info on the characters and it helps to understand them. I enjoyed this book for the most part, I felt some of Avery's actions were a little immature and at time had problems with the timeline but overall it was a good read. It's written in several POVs but mostly Avery's and Evan's, it's pretty smooth between them and is an easy read. It is romance, suspense and detective work all rolled into one.
