I wanted to like this book and who could blame me when you have a bunch of firefighters, EMTs and police officers running around... but something just felt flat to me. I don't know if I can even explain what it is. 
We start out the book with Mia going thru something I hope I never have to do and then tears were running down my face so bad.. I'm an emotional reader and tend to feel exactly what the characters do as well. Taima or Tai as I'm calling him, despite having his issues, is there for Mia when she needs him the most. This is probably when I fell in love with the firefighters in this book. Anyway, in the midst of healing she pushes him away.. Tai, is so lost in his guilt that he lets her do it. Finally they figure it out. While this book is missing something, I still loved how Mia pushed Tai to become a better person and go for what he wanted in life. I also loved how close everyone was especially in the midst of tragedy.. Shows the kind of family that firefighters are. While I was reading this, I just felt like it needed something big to happen and it never did.
