Cruel Queen is book 2 and you need to read Unlikely Queen first! I’m a huge TL Smith fan and will always be, with that said this duet isn’t like her other books and that’s okay. Is it my favorite of hers? No. But I did enjoy the world and characters she created. Talia is so strong and I love getting to see her powers really be unleashed even though it was due to pain. Hated that we had to loose some of the characters. And I wasn’t sure who I wanted her to end up with after meeting Max. I was all team Grim book 1 but I was also team Max with Cruel Queen. HEA and everything is amazing! Yay!
