Synopsis: New to the Big Apple, the last thing Lexie Bloom needs is to fall for two guys at once. Especially when she can’t have either. One is her personal trainer, an Adonis way out of her league. The other? A Brit Lit professor her svelte boss insists she woo for her—via text message, no less. Little does she know, the two are the same man…
Matthew Hennessey is intrigued by his shy new client at the gym. But before he gets the chance to ask her out, he discovers she’s the one crafting the flirty texts sent to him by a woman who wouldn’t know Lord Byron from Lady Gaga. To get to know her better, he allows Lexie to play her role. She may have given up on the idea of romance, but Matthew’s bound and determined to show her love is alive and well in New York City.
UNITED INDIE BOOK BLOG REVIEW
REVIEWER: ANN
RATING: 4 STARS
This was a so-so book for me. Mainly PG-13 which is fine. I found the storyline needed a better flow as the writer seemed to stretch the story needing to fill the space to make it a novel. It would have been fine as a novella or shorter book. The premise of the story was a woman who had many heartaches fearing being hurt again by opening herself up but it felt like enough already. There were far too many obstacles in place that prevented the truth coming out to finalize the love between the characters. The story had a "Cyrano deBergrac" feel to it from today's perspective of using texting by Lexie as her boss Sylvia to woo a guy, Matt, her boss met at the gym, who quotes English literary sources. Lexie who is a English major is persuaded by Sylvie to text Matt for her in the hopes of setting up a date. That is when the story unfolds.
