Release of Less than Perfect, Part I by Dylan Scott

Title: Less than Perfect, Part I
Author: Dylan Scott
Genre: New Adult, Romance
Release Date: February 5, 2015

Jack Grant knew exactly what he wanted. A successful businessman with little time or patience for dating, a membership to Perfect Events suited his lifestyle perfectly.

Thirty-two carefully selected criteria ensured his dates were a match for his very particular taste. Hair color, height, weight, education—every last detail—down to their considerable cup size, was meticulously selected. He’d bedded some of the most beautiful women in the world since becoming a member of the elite dating club.

All of his wants were met.
Yet none of his needs.

He’d been in love once, nine years ago. And once was enough. Sticking to arranged dating through the service was the perfect solution. And it worked. Until one day he opened a door he had never planned to. The one to his heart.

This novella is Part I of a three part series that will unfold over eight weeks.
Look for Part II on March 5, 2015

She leans toward me, closing the small gap between us and brushes her painted lips against my cheek. “And you look exactly like what I’ve been needing, Jack.”
She’s aggressive. And she smells good enough to eat. The blonde hair that is on my list of requirements is perfectly styled. Long, sexy, and outlining her full breasts that are the centerpiece of her tight black dress. Elegant, yet still provocative enough to make my slacks tighten.
“I ordered some appetizers in case you were ravenous,” she says, purring the word ravenous and letting me know I can eat anything I want. Anything.
I glance at the table. As if I could miss the three, silver domed-covered plates awaiting my arrival. I despise it when people try too hard.
“Thanks. But, I’m not. Not for food anyway.”

Dylan Scott is a New York trial attorney, wife and mother of four. She believes her job as a trial attorney is a subcategory to the field of entertainment more than it is law. With a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature she believed teaching English was a destined career choice until she realized her lifelong talent of "argument" actually could be her job. A recent, fairly boring, midlife crisis resulted in a brief stint as a middle school English teacher which confirmed that she wasn't ready to give up the law. Dylan has also taught legal courses at the college level and worked with at-risk inner city youth in the roles of mentor and coach. She was inspired to write Less than Perfect after reading all the great works of her Left Behind co-author, Vi Keeland.

This is one of the novellas that leave you wanting to know more about its characters. Be warned, this ends on such a horrible cliffy!
We have Jack Grant, a wealthy businessman who thinks he has everything he wants; money, a profitable company and women. Jack has a type; his women must be blonde, slender, educated and rich. He joins a matchmaking website and he keeps contact with Liv, the woman who is in charge of arranging his dates. All candidates pass through her and are selected through Jack’s criteria.
After a while, Jack is left unsatisfied by the women Liv sends him and requires something different. Liv remains hidden from him and she never allows her client to see her. Jack’s attraction towards the elusive Liv grows until one fateful night when a woman completely different from his type is sent to date him. Miranda is certainly not his usual choice of date.
Jack’s only real comfort is Alexis, his childhood friend and his only confidant. I quite enjoyed their relationship.
Our main hero’s walls start crumbling when he realizes how alone and emotionally empty he is and he starts doubting his ways. Especially after being attracted to the last woman Liv sent him, Miranda, who left him wanting more. He is determined to win her over and after some time he manages to find her, only to realize how unattainable she really is.
I loved the progress of the book and even though I soon realized the ending and the direction it was taking, I still enjoyed it. Jack still needs to win me over and Liv…well, I loved Liv for beating Jack at his own game. Smart woman.
I cannot wait for the next part.

Wow!What a surprise ending! I certainly didn't see that coming! You will be drawn in by Jack. He thinks he knows what he wants. He is just as wounded as everyone else. I can't wait to read the next part. I want to know if Jack gets his perfect match.
*** I received this book as a gift from the author in exchange for my honest review. ***
