SC Hutchinson has
loved to read since before she could remember. Hamlet, the Phantom of the
Opera, and Stephen King’s It are just a few of the books that ensnared her
imagination as a child.
Having a
preference for paranormal and dark reads, she still finds time to read sweet
books by authors such as Torrie Robles Love
After Pain, though some of her favorite indie authors include: Layla Stevens, Ella Dominguez, C.C Wood, Yara
Greathouse, Gwendolyn Grace, Ashlei Hawley, Haven Anne Lennox, C.M Holloway,
M.M Wolff, and many more.
SC’s first
attempt at writing produced The Highland Stones, Into the Darkness from the
Light, Alabama Sweet Tea, and
a few others. She has since learned from
her mistakes and used both positive and negative experiences to produce Like My Status, a book of which she is very proud.
Reading—and now
writing—is her favorite escape, and it provides him an outlet for when life
gets out of hand.

The Highland Stones by Stephanie ComalanderMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
When Adeline learns she has won a prestigious spot, studying with her idol in Scotland, she is over the moon. Traveling for the first time by herself, she is both nervous and excited at the same time. While there, she meets Scotland’s most eligible bachelor, Hadrian Balloil. Though she doesn’t understand why, he has taken an interest in her. Someone else has also taken an interest in her as well, Samuel McDunkeld.
What Adeline doesn’t know is that she was brought to Scotland under false pretenses. She has blood from all 6 of the original clans run through her veins. According to the legend of the Highland Stones, only those with the blood of the original clan can touch the stone and when all 6 are brought together, Scotland will finally be free. It is thought that Adeline is the one person who can bring them all together and get Scotland her freedom.
What a wonderful idea, I can see this all play out in my head. I did have some issues though. Adeline seems to be constantly manipulated and she doesn’t do anything to stop it. She has no backbone, she basically just follows what she’s told. At one point, she realizes she’s been watched most of her life by someone, someone who has kidnapped and drugged her? And then when he kisses her, she thinks she has feelings for him? There were some issues with the way that the story flowed. In one instance, she is recalling an event, but as I was reading it, I thought it was happening all over again. I was confused more than once with the storyline.
Heads up, it ends on a cliffhanger as well. I am hoping for a chance to read the next book to see where this goes.
